As hosts of the 2011 Jimmy Fund Nine Year Old Tournament, Beverly Little League is honored to welcome you to this year's event.

The Jimmy Fund supports the fight against cancer in children and adults at Boston's Dana Farber Cancer Institute helping to raise the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world.

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. Each team must supply two (2) baseballs to the umpire at the start of the game. Regulation Little League baseballs must be used - NOT practice balls.

2. A coin flip prior to the game will determine the HOME and AWAY teams. The winner of the coin toss will have the option of Home or Away. The loser of the toss will have option of dugout.

3. Each team will field 9 positional players.

4. Each team is allowed 1 Manager and 3 Coaches. No more!

5. Continuous (all players) batting order will be in effect.

6. Every player must play in the field for 6 consecutive defensive outs.

7. Regular season pitching rules apply throughout the tournament.

• Pitch count rule is in effect. 9 year old players can pitch a maximum of 75 pitches in a game. Below are the guidelines regarding the number of pitching and the associated rest requirements:

1-20 pitches in a day – No calendar day of rest
21-35 pitches in a day – 1 calendar day of rest
36-50 pitches in a day – 2 calendar days of rest
51-65 pitches in a day – 3 calendar days of rest
66 or more pitches in a day – 4 calendar days of rest

Any pitcher who delivers 41 or more pitches in a game CANNOT play the position of catcher on that calendar day. Any player who has played the position of catcher in four (4) or more innings in a game is not eligible to pitch on that calendar day. Each team should nominate a pitch counter. The pitch counters shall confer every half inning and immediately resolve any discrepancies.

8. Swinging bunts / Fake bunt with full swing is outlawed. If a player attempts to take a full swing after squaring to bunt, the batter will be immediately called out. The rule is instituted as a safety issue.

9. As a courtesy to the opposing pitcher, when a batter has a 3 & 0 count, the batter should not try to distract the pitcher by faking a bunt and wagging his/her bat.

10. All base runners must slide at any base where the defensive players are
attempting a play. At all times, the base runner must avoid contact with the
defensive player. If a player does not slide into a base when a play is being made,
the base runner will be called out. If there is no play at the base, the runner is not
required to slide.

11. Ten run rule is in affect at the end of an official game (4 full innings). At the end of the 4th, if the 10 run rule is invoked, the team in the lead will be determined the winner.

12. Two (2) adult base coaches are permitted. If a player is designated as a base coach, that player must wear a batting helmet.

13. On-deck batters are not permitted at any time. No player in the dugout is allowed to hold a bat until they are making their way to the batters box.

14. Batboys/Batgirls are not permitted.

15. Catcher’s mask must have the separate throat protection attached to the mask
regardless of the style of mask.

16. A manager or coach shall not leave the bench or dugout area except to confer with a player or umpire and only after calling for and being granted a time-out by the umpire. When visiting the pitcher, the manager or coach is allowed to cross the foul line and visit the mound.

17. Number of players on roster not to exceed 14.

18. Long pants are not mandatory for coaches. Please dress appropriately.

19. Night games have a curfew of 9:45pm.

20. Little League regular season rules are in affect for all other instances.

21. After each game, a coach from each team is responsible for raking the home plate area and pitchers mound. There will be a rake in each dugout.

22. Dugouts must be cleaned up after each game. Every water bottle and piece of trash must be in the proper receptacle.

23. Managers are REQUIRED to fill out the score book in the snack bar after each game. They will need to record the score, pitcher names, and pitch counts.

24. THERE WILL BE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR ANY INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR BY MANAGERS, PLAYERS, COACHES OR FANS. UPON THE FIRST WARNING, THE VIOLATING PARTY WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE PLAYING FIELD OR PARK BY EITHER THE UMPIRE IN CHARGE OR A LEAGUE OFFICIAL. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN FORFEIT FOR THEIR TEAM

As hosts of the 2011 Jimmy Fund Nine Year Old Tournament, Beverly Little League is honored to welcome you to this year's event.

The Jimmy Fund supports the fight against cancer in children and adults at Boston's Dana Farber Cancer Institute helping to raise the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world.

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. Each team must supply two (2) baseballs to the umpire at the start of the game. Regulation Little League baseballs must be used - NOT practice balls.

2. A coin flip prior to the game will determine the HOME and AWAY teams. The winner of the coin toss will have the option of Home or Away. The loser of the toss will have option of dugout.

3. Each team will field 9 positional players.

4. Each team is allowed 1 Manager and 3 Coaches. No more!

5. Continuous (all players) batting order will be in effect.

6. Every player must play in the field for 6 consecutive defensive outs.

7. Regular season pitching rules apply throughout the tournament.

• Pitch count rule is in effect. 9 year old players can pitch a maximum of 75 pitches in a game. Below are the guidelines regarding the number of pitching and the associated rest requirements:

1-20 pitches in a day – No calendar day of rest
21-35 pitches in a day – 1 calendar day of rest
36-50 pitches in a day – 2 calendar days of rest
51-65 pitches in a day – 3 calendar days of rest
66 or more pitches in a day – 4 calendar days of rest

Any pitcher who delivers 41 or more pitches in a game CANNOT play the position of catcher on that calendar day. Any player who has played the position of catcher in four (4) or more innings in a game is not eligible to pitch on that calendar day. Each team should nominate a pitch counter. The pitch counters shall confer every half inning and immediately resolve any discrepancies.

8. Swinging bunts / Fake bunt with full swing is outlawed. If a player attempts to take a full swing after squaring to bunt, the batter will be immediately called out. The rule is instituted as a safety issue.

9. As a courtesy to the opposing pitcher, when a batter has a 3 & 0 count, the batter should not try to distract the pitcher by faking a bunt and wagging his/her bat.

10. All base runners must slide at any base where the defensive players are
attempting a play. At all times, the base runner must avoid contact with the
defensive player. If a player does not slide into a base when a play is being made,
the base runner will be called out. If there is no play at the base, the runner is not
required to slide.

11. Ten run rule is in affect at the end of an official game (4 full innings). At the end of the 4th, if the 10 run rule is invoked, the team in the lead will be determined the winner.

12. Two (2) adult base coaches are permitted. If a player is designated as a base coach, that player must wear a batting helmet.

13. On-deck batters are not permitted at any time. No player in the dugout is allowed to hold a bat until they are making their way to the batters box.

14. Batboys/Batgirls are not permitted.

15. Catcher’s mask must have the separate throat protection attached to the mask
regardless of the style of mask.

16. A manager or coach shall not leave the bench or dugout area except to confer with a player or umpire and only after calling for and being granted a time-out by the umpire. When visiting the pitcher, the manager or coach is allowed to cross the foul line and visit the mound.

17. Number of players on roster not to exceed 14.

18. Long pants are not mandatory for coaches. Please dress appropriately.

19. Night games have a curfew of 9:45pm.

20. Little League regular season rules are in affect for all other instances.

21. After each game, a coach from each team is responsible for raking the home plate area and pitchers mound. There will be a rake in each dugout.

22. Dugouts must be cleaned up after each game. Every water bottle and piece of trash must be in the proper receptacle.

23. Managers are REQUIRED to fill out the score book in the snack bar after each game. They will need to record the score, pitcher names, and pitch counts.

24. THERE WILL BE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR ANY INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR BY MANAGERS, PLAYERS, COACHES OR FANS. UPON THE FIRST WARNING, THE VIOLATING PARTY WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE PLAYING FIELD OR PARK BY EITHER THE UMPIRE IN CHARGE OR A LEAGUE OFFICIAL. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN FORFEIT FOR THEIR TEAM
